Müller-Rusch String Method. String Method for Class or Individual Instruction Violin-Viola-Cello-Bass Book 1. Conductor Score.

Successful string programs start with the Müller-Rusch String Series - a complete, thorough, and sequential cóurse of study for the simultaneous development of all string instruments.
String Method:This outstanding series builds a solid foundation whether used for class or individual instruction. Five books, in progressive levels of difficulty, are available for Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, and Full Conductor Score.

Foreword for the teacher (Book 1): The preparatory rote and rhythm exercises may be played by bowing or plucking the strings or a combination of both. If the bow is used, the students should refer to page 8 (pages 18 & 19 in the score) for the necessary information on the fundamentals of bowing .
Thin strips of colored cellophane tape orwhite self-sticking dots maybe attached to the fingerboard. Have the students remove the strips or dots as soon as they have learned the correct finger position .
All slurred studies may be played first without the slurs so that the student will be familiar with the exercise before applying the new element of slurring.
Starting with Lesson 20, Third Position is introduced in the Bass. However, these notes are optional in the exercises. All exercises may be played in the First Position if preferred.
